The best pictures are always the ones with the kids catching fish.
It makes a long day worth it.

Looks like a neat family place. Are you going to try to whip the weeds this year? What caused the hole in the bank? Beaver?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

On the weeds! Yes sir, I am going to try and whip um. Do you have any recommendations or remedies? During the hot part of the summer the weeds do get pretty bad.. The hole in the bank was caused by a few beavers about three years ago, I had local game control come out and trap a few of um and I took care of the rest. My pond is about 1 ½ acres with a depth of 20 feet in the center.. This is the same pond that I had a fish kill in last September trying to put in an aeration system.. I lost a lot of big fish, but have since got the pond back under control and stocked several BB and Cats…..My CNBG took a pretty good hit as well…. The crappie were not effected and are healthy. We took a 2 dozen minnows last Sunday and caught 15 BIG crappie (and yes they were good).. The BB we caught were FAT and Sassy…. I was happy with the way they are turning out..
I am not trying to have a record bass pond but making it were the kids keep interested in fishing with a possibility of a lunker watching there lure..
Please reply with any info or if you have any questions. If you are around Duncan Oklahoma any time soon look me up and let go fishing..

Impressive you are able to grow such nice crappies in a 1.5 acre pond. What species of forage fish do you have in it or is the forage based on the CNBG?

I have some green sun fish and the CNBG... The CNBG spawn very repidly and I have made several bedding spots and put in a lot of cover.. I feed 3 to 4 times a day in the spring and summer and the water boils when the feeder goes off.. A grasshopper only last about .5 seconds when he hit the water..

I'm a grass carp fan when it comes to weeds. Can you use them in Oklahoma?

Pond Owner, on the weeds that I saw in your pics I've just sprayed round up on them and had good results.

Nice Pics! The stuff coming out of the water looks like creeping water primrose (at a glance). I've had good luck with both submergent (Pondweed Defense) and emergent (Kraken) herbicides. Be careful if you use RoundUp, it's not real easy on the fish.
Can't tell what the other weeds are under the water, a closeup would help.
