Just thought I might make the Texans a little jealous for once.

Wow, those are some nice deer. In east Texas, they are tryng to increase the buck counts and quality. 13" minimum inside spread in 65 counties. People just will not let them grow up without the regs.

Corn is a no-no here even though many use it.

Nice bucks! We can (and do) use corn here, but I've seen my biggest bucks hunting near water troughs and ponds...especially on dry years.

They don't have to eat your corn to survive, but they MUST drink water. Find the water in an arid area, and you find the big bucks. Get downwind and be patient.

Your making us georgia folks jealous too. Most of our deer look like the one on the right in the second photo.

This is a fairly small wooded property with a pond. This year it was completely surrounded with soybeans...next year will be corn and should be even better. Champaign County produces a lot of quality deer.

Too bad our football team isn't as good as our deer.
