Anyone have a good remedy for getting rid of willow trees that keep growing on my dam? They are still small, up to an inch in diameter but spreading fast.

Remedy and the correct surfactant. I have the same problem on a couple of ponds. They never come back but I get a new batch each year.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Nothing to do with willows on a dam, but some people like them. I have lots of old growth willow in my lowlands and I make hiking sticks and canes from the branches. A 1 1/2" diameter stick is over 30 years old. They are refered to as diamond willow.

cut them down, then paint with full strength glyphosate or trichlopir(Ortho brush killer) some say a mixture is better with tough to get rid of types such as tallow and willow. paint as soon as you cut them.
I killed hundreds, of sweetgum and tallow up to 5 inches.

cool walkin sticks wood.....i make mine out of manzanita (need to get a pic up for you).

i agree completely w/ burger, you need to be careful around water w/ it but my preference is 2,4-D on live stumps. they never come back.
