Intro- I have a pond that is appx. 3 ac. in size. But the part that I own is 1/2 ac. The appx. depth of the water is 1-6 feet. The location is Tallahassee, Florida. The water is kind of mucky and so is the bottom. There are alot of lily pads...but I clean them out time to time, to have room to feed the fish. There are bass, bluegill, warmouth, and catfish. But there are very few, because of lack of open water. Questions- I want to have more fish in the pond!! 1) If I stock the pond, what kind of fish should I put in, and how many of them? 2) If I start feeding them fish food in a PVC ring, will they stick around my area? 3) Does Any one know of a fishery that sells fingerings in the FL/GA area?? 4) If I brought fish over from another pond (in an aireated tank), would that work? -help would be appreciated!

Contact Greg Grimes. He is in Georgia and I have the utmost confidence in him. I think all of us do.

Luke,
It depends on what you are getting for that $1 per bass, but even for small bass that's not a bad price...I've certainly paid more.
Relative to your questions, it is very difficult to answer since 1) you don't own 2.5 of the 3 acre pond and 2) you haven't told us anything about what your objectives for the pond are. For Greg or anyone else to help you, you need to state what you want from this pond. Also, you said there were very few fish "because of the lack of open water". How do you know how many fish you have and of what type? Are you saying that the lily pads are causing the lack of fish?
Question 1...can't answer without more info Question 2...the BG and catfish will tend to hang around the feeders, also a few bass preying on the BG Question 3...sounds like you already have an answer Question 4...by "would that work", do you mean would they survive (probably) or would that solve your apparent lack of fish problem (possibly or it might even compound the problem depending on what type of fish you plan to bring in)

By saying "lack of open water"- I meant that having so many lily pads..this resulted in fewer fish caught (no place to cast a line). I have caught and seen the following fish - bream, warmouth, catfish, and bass.

Okay, just want to point out that not being able to cast does not at all equate to not enough fish...that's my point...you may have too many fish, too few, or imbalences...we can't tell from the info provided.

Luke, Greg can help, but I would suggest inviting your neighbor over for a cook-out & getting togeather on what you both want for the pond.
