Hello,
Will Blue Cats eat a floating Catfish ration?
Do CC lose their spots as they age?

It's not about the stomach. It's about the fish. Take care of the fish and the stomach will be fine.

I just looked through pics of a couple dozen CC, up to 25" and 7 lbs - I could see spots on most of them.

IIRC, BC don't take pellets as well as CC.

Our bluecats take feed as good as channels. If they are wild caught fish they probably won't.

May I assume you grow your blues out on pellets, Todd?

Hmm? Then, what the heck did you sell me, Todd? I have over 3 pound fish eating pellets and they have no discernable spots. Looking at the slope of the head, I'd think BC, but the anal fin tells me they're CC. However, being part Aggie, I have trouble counting past 21. ;\)

Oops, it's Kevin, over here in San Jacinto County. Joe Adams, dirt worker extordinaire (sp?), kept calling me "Mudcat", instead of "Bigmac", so I just changed my screen name. I think he got used to me complaining about only catching Mudcats on my jug lines. ;\)

They are darn good fish, but the larger CC (based on no sloped head and anal fin) have no spots. The ones about a pound and under have spots.

I've seen channels lose spot abundance as time goes by, but usually even the larger ones have a few spots somewhere. There are better ways to discern the difference. I can't go into those explanations now, but the info is readily available for identification pusposes.

Our small blues look like sharks when they feed. I'll have to get some video of that for the conference.

I think I have a few Blues coming to the feeder. You're right. They skim along just under the surface and come up to do their impression of a living vacuum cleaner. I've seen them skim the surface, scooping food into their maws, for 30 seconds or more, at a time.
