I have no experience with it, TOM G, but I wonder if a simple minnow trap is the way to go, like the ones sold at Walmart and Bass Pro type places.
If some folks would discuss any of the activities and traits of young CC fingerlings, we could determine the best placements for the trap.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

I have 6 of those that I use to catch gambusia at a freinds pond.I was wondering if I put fish food in em if the fingerlings might swim in after it or if Id be wasting time I could be catching the gams. I was also hoping that someone would post about their traits too. I know its earle sat morning but Ive noticed by the posts theres a lot of PBers that just dont ever seem to sleep, they just keep posting day & night

I've used minnow traps and caught anywhere from zero to 100. I guess the school has to swim by the trap. I've caught a lot cast netting but they are a ^*&%@ to get out of the net.

I have used the walmart minnow traps successfully to catch over populated bullhead out of my pond. I had to cut the holes a little bigger for the 3-5 in bullhead, but for the CC fingerlings, they should be fine. The best bait I found is dry dog food. I tied the trap to a stick with a rope and threw it out there 8 feet from the bank and caught between 5 and 35 a night. Should work for CC too.
