I having been trying to buy alum for a muddy pond I have in north texas. I have tried over 20 places including chemical suppliers, feed stores and nurseries. Only 3 had ever heard of it and they only sold wholesale or with chemical license. Does anyone have a place to buy in dfw or surrounding areas. thanks

Boatcycle in Henderson, TX carries it.

Also you may give BWI a call. They distribute ag products to retailers throughout the US. I found some in Houston by calling them and they told me who their retailers were. http://bwicatalog.bwicompanies.com/webap...Id=10001#Dallas

Hope this helps.

General Chemical Corp.is THE major producer of alum http://www.genchemcorp.com/markets/water/aluminum_based.shtml They will give you a list of suppliers available in your area. My last quote for this spring is $.335 per pound so don't let someone rip you off. I usually pay about $105 for 300lbs. Be sure to get powdered or fine ground and just apply it and 1/2 part hydrated lime, BOTH DRY, at the same time, into a prop wash. If you try to mix them together with water you'll get a thick pudding. I found it is better to add extra rather than less with no problems at all.
