I fertilized my first time this july using liquid fertilizer. Took about 3 weeks for the bloom. I used only a half gallon. I filled a gallon container quarter full, the then filled the rest with pond water to dilute. To apply I just used a coffee can, filled it with pond water 3/4 way and topped it off with my already diluted fertilizer. Walked around the pond like this until the container was gone. repeated again once more only using total half a gallon of total fertilizer. Why? some people say dilute 5 to 1 some say 20 to one. Or else the fertilizer will sink to the bottom. But my method worked just fine.

I was thinking to just fertilize in the summer to let the vegetation grow during the spring allowing all my forage great cover, and survival then once fertilize in the summer. I had alot of vegetation but it all disappeared once I fertilized. The vegetaion retreated eventually. !acre pond.

It`s a one acre pond and well i have no means of putting trees as cover in there.----Anybody see problems with this Method?

Also anybody ever tryed using ghost shrimp, or even fresh water shrimp as a additional forage base? I see in the back of pond boss a supplier sells them?

Do a search for grass shrimp and one for scuds. That should give you some info. There are a number of fresh water crustaceans.

Here are a few:
