I tried to catch cell phone footage of the fish feeding on optimal tonight. The cell phone original footage is much clearer and I'd love to post that at full size and full quality, but Photobucket only allows a 500mb clip.

I edited this clip to be at medium quality and to fit in the 500mb limit. It is at original speed. (rats, photobucket rejected it, I'll try to load it to google drive where you can watch it by clicking on the link below I hope. It won't embed in the post but should be able to be seen through this hyperlink below)

Feeding Frenzy original speed

I then edited this one to run at half speed to see if I could identify the blazing fast fish. I see fish come in full speed and flip around and head down. Sometimes I get a glimpse of something a bit yellow on their stomach and they seem to be a RES shape rather than a perch (fusiform) shape. Even with it slowed down to 50% you still don't get a good look at them.

Feeding Frenzy at half speed

Sorry that it is so long and you mostly watch the boring goldfish suck down pellets, but maybe someone else has experience with the splashes and flashes and can tell me if they think the blazing trips to the buffet and back are likely to be my RES or perch. For example at 2:20 on the first clip something is flying in and out! Maybe even shiners? Do they take pellets that fast?

Thanks esshup. Anyone who has RES coming to their feeder care to share how they hit the pellets? My RES were hatched in 'captivity' and were given fry food and then pellets until about 1" 1.5" long before going in my pond. Not sure if that is old or mature enough to be 'pellet trained' Then in the pond for the first 2 years most of their food is natural forage. I didn't start regularly pellet feeding till this year. I don't know if they are feeding on pellets at the top or not.
