I have established LMB and BG populations in my small 1/4 acre pond. A couple of weeks ago I added 100, 4" Golden Shiners. I haven't seen any since then and just thought other fish had snatched them all up. I knew that might happen.

Today, I noticed a few schools of tiny fish in different areas of the pond. Could these be GS fry?

I scooped some up in a pool net and tried to get a photo.

Some look a bit like glass shrimp, but that might be due to very tiny size. One on the lower right seems to have large eye characteristic of fish. Can't help beyond that.

Give them a few more days and it will be easier to tell what the heck they are. Lol

That was my first thought anthropic. Then I looked closer and some look like fish. So I just stayed quite.

Been observing small schools of tiny fry around my pond edge that break the surface when I assume something is eating away at the school.

My best guess at this early stage is LMB fry. The larger individual on the far right lower corner seems to have a semi distinct lateral line. But it`s just a guess without a 30x microscope.

I'm guessing BG fry.

I was home that night. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Scooped some up again for another look. Could these even be the same? I think these are LMB but the eyes seem completely different.

Yeah, I'd say these ones are LMB, judging by the green color and well-defined lateral line.

LMB fry in my opinion.

The New Jerry - Yes those are LMB late stage larvae. They are at the stage (size) where they are starting to develop scales.
