Long time lurker, first time poster

New 3 to 4 acre pond finished middle to end of June. Due to recent rain events, I( have approx 1 acre with 4 to 5 feet of water. Added 5 lb of fatheads this morning. Considering it is late in the breeding season, should I add addition fatheads this year, or wait til next spring.

Pond is being developed to have a balance between LMB, RES, & HBG

You will have a gazillion of them in no time. FHM only live to about 18 months so even if you stocked immature fish within a short time they will be adults of spawning age. And spawn they will. With no other predator fish to eat the spawn, they will multiply at an unbelievable rate.

If you want them to multiply really, really well put in some structure for them to spawn on (they spawn on the underside surface of things) more effectively and start throwing out a handful of fish food pellets as soon as you can get them interested in it.

They will spawn a lot if you do not add structure or feed them but with additional feed and structure they will multiply even better.

You could also now stock a good number of fingerling BG and RES.
