Pond Boss
Well I still cant figure out how to post pictures.I am using Photobucket and each picture says it is greater than 2MB.
Our pond was finished in May 2015.The pond is 3.1 acres according to acme planimeter app for smartphone.I have about 1.2 acres that are between 9' and 18' deep. The remainder of the pond is 6' or less including three coves.I stocked 5lbs of GSH and 12lbs of Rosy Red FHM on June 9th and noticed fry from both on July 5th.Looks like the spawn is on!
My original plan was to stock BG and RES this fall and then stock LMB and HSB next spring.Sparkplug warned against giving the BG too much of a head start before stocking LMB. I know " it all depends" but should I wait and stock BG at the same time as my LMB and HSB? I have lots of shallow areas that would provide plenty of structure for BG recruitment.I just want to be cautious.
My goals are to have a well balanced fishery with plenty of filet sized bluegill and maybe a few bass in the 3lb to 4lb range. My FIL used to fly fish allot and would like to teach my boys how to throw a fly. Thanks in advance! Troy

I just had the same problem although not using photobucket. Are you able to crop your pictures down a bit? That worked for me and then was able to post it.

I think you'll be fine with stocking BG in the fall and the bass the following spring. It's waiting a year in between that worries me.

What is the worry with waiting over a year between stocking the BG and the LMB?

Mainly, location. Southern ponds often do just fine with stocking bluegills first, then LMB a year later. Up north in my neighborhood, we deal with stunted bluegill populations a lot. Very common. Giving the bluegills a year head-start with no predation often means the LMB will not be able to adequately control BG numbers, and we end up with stunted fish.

Uploading to Photobucket does not change the file size of your images.

If you have windows paint, you can resize your photos so that they are smaller than 2MB. A better program for manipulating images and is free would be "GIMP".

Sorry I can't weigh in on the stocking plan, I'm just too new and inexperienced. I can say that I have encountered the "stunted BG" thing in many ponds I have fished...

FWIW, I stocked all of my fish at once. Lmb, bg, cc, res and fhm. Pond seems to be doing great with lots of spawning and the bass are snacking a lot on the fry. I am still feeding from the dock nightly.

I took this advice from my local hatchery that has been doing this for 30+ years.

I have resized the photos using Photo Bucket and still would not work.I will try Gimp tomorrow.Today I am on duty using public wi-fi and the firewall will not allow most downloads.

If using Photobucket, simply copy the picture "IMG" and paste that code into to post here on the PBF...do NOT try posting it to the PBF "file manager"....

The IMG code in Photobucket is located to the right side of your browser screen beside the picture, after you click on an individual picture. IMG code will look similar to below, (modified to break the hyperlink)

[URL=http;//s201.photobucket.com/user/Rainman_pics_2007/media/Triplets.jpg.html[IMG]http//i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa4/Rainman_pics_2007/Triplets.jpg[IMG][URL]

Need to put a [ then "Img"...then a ]. Then put the picture URL, then do the bracketed Img thing again, but with a / before the Img.

FWIW here is what I do. I save the files. I then go to My Computer and select the files and do a "send to." You can pick the size you want and e-mail to yourself. Save the received e-mail attachments and use those for posting.
