I am just getting started with this pond stuff and I am getting addicted fast! I have read quite a bit and you regulars are full of good information and lots of opinions.
So, I want to milk those opinions for my own benefit.

What is your favorite fish to have in your pond and why?

What is the fish you let get in your pond and have regretted it ever since?

No right or wrong answer and I'm not sure if it will even affect what I do but I would like to hear what you have to say. Especially the regrets.

I don't have one favorite fish. Released regrets? CC. While it's cool to have some big fish in the pond, I think they eat a lot more fish than people reallize once they get bigger. Plus they are VERY smart once caught and released once, maybe twice.

My neighbor brought his 4 year old son over to fish from the pier. Wes hooked a fish and handed the rod to his son, then had to grab his son's belt to keep him from getting yanked in the water. Wes grabbed the rod with his other hand, but the fish wanted nothing to do with him and broke the line. It had to be one of the big CC in the pond, I'm guessing the few that are left should be well over 20# now.

Coming from my prospective where I don't want to use chemicals to control pond vegetation I would say the grass carp (white amur). But getting the balance of too little or too many can be hard and takes time and patients.

Lets see I have RES,CNBG,LMB, and HSB in my pond.

Most favorite? Hmm that's hard. I love 10 inch BG they are fun!! I found pondboss before I ever stocked my pond so I really don't have any regrets as far as fish put in my pond.

If I did though I would guess it would be the CC. For the same reason esshup gave above. A 20+ pound cat will pretty much try to eat whatever it wants... I don't need that in my pond.

Never met a fish I didn’t like - some better than others.
My favorite fish is my CNBG caught on a fly rod......
OR.... my HSB ripping fly line into the backing raising the hair on the back of my neck.
Love our “PET” BC.
I even like CC on a ”put and take” basis”.

Least favorite is the bullhead

For me, it has to be the "counterfeit" RES that me, and a number of other locals (including PB members) in this area got from a local dealer about three years ago. They were some mixed up, no good, hybrid floozies that only have sex on their minds.

Favorite...every kind with the exception of the one listed below

Least favorite..without hesitation... the pond wrecking...one tough mother to eradicate...the black bullhead

If one put just one cc would it be more desireable?

Favorite, any trout or char because of their absolute beauty. The brook trout is probably my favorite of these.

Least favorite, all the rest because they are common.

Yep, I'm a fish snob

Right now my favorite fish are GSF. My LMB love them, and will line up at the dock waiting for a scooby snack.

Before that it was definitely CNBG.

I'm still hung up on HSB...love to catch them, and love to watch them feed.

I'll go with CC as my least favorite...just not aligned with what I like in a pond. I'm seriously considering draining my small pond and clearing them out.
