Hey guys, I'm 14 years old and from ohio. I don't have my own pond, but there is a place where I fish where I am allowed to mess around with the fish. It is about 3 acres and has a ton of stunted bluegill, and hybrid bluegill. There were no bass in there when I started fishing it late this summer but I have gotten about 15 in there. I know that I need alot more but it's a start. I am also feeding the bluegill, and am hoping they will get bigger next summer. There are lots of big snapping turtles in there. Should I catch them and take them out or don't they make a difference?

Welcome Jason, have you checked with the owners to see if they have a history of the pond and stocking? As you catch fish, keep a log of all fish caught with size, body condition, type of fish, time of day, bait, etc. Also log the fish that you add.

The turtles aren't or shouldn't be a problem. They are mostly like buzzards in that they keep the pond clean. And, a really big turtle can be pretty ancient.
