I am looking to stock grass carp in my one acre pond to control my weed problem and I just received my permit from the DEC. The permit is good until mid October. I've been told (by an unreliable source) not to stock carp in the summer.

My question is should I wait until October?

My property is on New York's Southern Tier just east of Binghamton. I appreciate any advice. THANKS!

We jsut filled paperwork for a client in NY. Given the permittting headache I suggest you wait until it cools just a bit. Although if they are making a delivery I woudl do it when they are in the area to ensure you get them. We should be finished with the hot summer months anyways. September or October is fine.
