There is a place in Western North Carolina where I live called the Dupont State Forest.

It was owned by Dupont and fishing lakes dot the property.

One lake is Fawn Lake and covers 5.7 acres. It was sampled the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commssion and found to have only a few small largemouth bass and nothing else.

It was stocked with 1400 1-2" bluegill fry last year as forage for the bass and some trees were cabled over into the lake for cover.

Will this result in a quality bass fishery down the road?

If enough of the 1"-2" BG survived predation to establish a successful population for bass forage, it will be on the way. How many are a "few" small LMB?

Among other things it will depend on how it is managed - species/slot limts, etc.

I don't know.

You'd have to ask the fish people.

I just read about it.
