I just was laying in bed thinking about how I wish I had an island in my pond and then The thought popped into my head to make a floating island. Just wondered if anyone here has done this? I see ok YouTube that there are examples of this. Seems like there are some cool benefits to doing one.
Not sure exactly how yet but thought some of you may have already gone down this road and might have some suggestions for me.

I had the same thought and made this yesterday, about 8'x3'. I'll fill it with plants and put it in the pond monday or tuesday.

Swim floats for me only lasted 1 year.

I've used them for other things that stay outdoors. 2 years now and no issues, apart for those gnawed by nutrias.
However, they are so cheap that it would not be a problem to replace them.
What did you use them for?

I put them in a 2x4x4 fish cage. They shrunk in size and turned black. I think the sun may be bad for them. Also they were $.99 so they may be made out of some cheaper material. If I was going to make an island I would use P{VC pipe and plastic wire. Would last a long time for the amount of work you put into it.

Nehunter you re right about pvc pipe. I made a 3’x3’ turtle trap using it years ago and it s still floating, but it s heavier and rigid.
For theisland I wanted something I can manage by myself, easy, fast and cheap. I still don t know if it will work, plants will be bare roots and probably I ll have to take all out before winter or they will froze.
