A friend of mine wants to build a shade table? for my pond. He says it is just under the surface of the water & you cast on it & let the bait fall & the bass nail it. Has anyone built one & how? Thanks

Never heard of that. It doesn't sound like anything that a fish would do.

I've heard of RES using shade. It seems they avoid bright light situations.

It could have to do with howw much other structure he has in the pond. If the table is about the only thing out there, the fish might use it more than if there is lots of other structure.

If I understand correctly, the concept is to throw the bait on top of the table then gently pull it over the edge of the table and let it drop? Sounds like the same concept as fishing around docks for bass. IME docks often hold bass. A wacky rig might work well.

U know it might be fun to make some estate or garage sells and buy a few "really cheap" table to set up around the pond, or build one out of a lot of stuff. But I would keep the table top under the water so to keep the birds off them. If they don't hit a wacky worm, Go Home! smile
