That is sad you would never think it's going to be that powerful. That's a good warning to others to be aware for sure.
Terrible! I'm glad I have overland spillways. Those pipes also could be a liability. If cleaning them out, always use a grapple on a stick, and do not get into the water close by.

Wow that is really sad, but I can see how it can happen.

This year I found several dead turtles at my drain grate:

Mark, if that's smart weed around the inlet, I might whack it before it gets any denser. It'll definitely block the rat trap.

Thanks Al...the pic of drain is year or two old. None around the drain this summer, but I've got what looks to be the same stuff in other parts of the pond. Treating it with Aquatic Roundup which seems to be working...but it's a battle.

What is that and where did you get that gtrsy end for your drain pipe? PERFECT
I'm not sure where Zep got his, but Agri Drain makes ones just like it. Mine is yellow. And, I don't know how Zep attached his...I drilled 4 holes in the corrugated pipe end (12, 3, 6, & 9 o'clock) and wired it on with bailing wire.

Like QuarterAcre stated we purchased our drain guards from AgriDrain.

Two of my ponds have these and they seem to work well.

I think one of mine is a 24 inch and one a 21 inch.

Not losing decent size fish down the drain any longer.
