It was never damned correctly and need to be opened up and dried, deepened, erosion repaired and then a proper spillway created. We have tried excavators but seems like nobody has an interest in the job unless tens of thousands $$. Is this too hard to do ourselves with smaller, rental equipment? Total dam height is maybe 15 feet. Water depth now, maybe 4 foot at deepest, near the dam. Any advice/comment would be helpful. The pics I have to show (but could not do it) show the dam end and erroded right corner. The dam only has a 16 in culvert drain at the left end... the high end of the dam. The top of the dam is NOT level, with the right end of dam being lower by about three feet.... which is one reason for the errosion following big stoms. Eventually, the drain became non funtional and all water exited via the erosion. All needs to be fixed right.

Just finished with this project on 3/4 acre and heavy equipment contractor. 19 days, layers of limestone bottom, 56 truckloads of clay, 45000# bentonite. They did a beautiful job, but pricey, messy, and having a place for alot of sludge helped.
Where in Indiana are you?
