My grandson turned 4 yrs. old so I figured it was time to build them a treehouse. Most of the lumber was scrap from a friend's construction company so cost was kept to a minimum. I built it 100% all by myself, including getting the 4x6s up onto the trees alone. It overlooks the stream feeding our only freshwater lake on the island.

Wow, very clever! Like the authentic vertical slats making up the sides!

What type of trees are those?

I bet the kids love the view!

Thanks guys. The railings are made from small guava trees. They are an invasive tree and grow by the thousands. Worse than sweetgums if you can imagine that! But the wood is very heavy and dense. Was gonna use bamboo but decided the guava would look more natural.

What type of trees are the ones that the tree fort is attached to?

They're albezia trees, native to Africa. Its a poor tree to build a treehouse in but that's the only trees around. If I can get 4 years out of it, that'll be fine with me. Retiring then and moving.
