My great grandpa started a construction company back in 1950 so I have been sweeping floors and then building stuff since I was old enough to put on and tie my own workboots. Back when all my friends where lounging around and playing nintendo all summer long I was basically forced into a slave labor situation, but nowadays I am thankful for all those long summer workdays and work ethic.

Over the last couple years I have built quite a few docks for folks around the midwest, and figured I should put the pictures that I have of these docks all into one place. If you have any questions about any of them or about docks in general just shoot em over and we can make something up if we dont exactly know the answer.....

This is my place. We have 1000's of kids up to our lake in the month of June and July.

Here is a video of one of the boys camps from last year. The second half of the video is at my place:

Here is cool one we designed with dockbuilders and helped build over the winter:

Here is a floating dock that I just built with Scott Rakers last week. We were in the area delivering some smallmouth bass and consulting on a project so we had dock builders ship in the floats direct and Scott picked up the lumber locally. We had the dock built from start to finish in just 6 hours. Here are the pics:

Dang, those look great! Did the one with the boat slips have 2 different pivot points (one at each end of the ganplanks)?

Great decks and great pictures Nate!

Your pond and docks are enough to make anyone jealous. I sure wish you lived close to central Ohio to upgrade my dock.

Anyway, beautiful jobs!!

Nate,

I am new to this site and I am in the process of having a 1.5 acre pond built. I am very interested in the construction of the last dock, the one with the ladder attached to it. How many and what size of floats were used? What are the approximate dimensions of the finished dock? Thanks for any information you can give me!

http://www.dockbuilders.com/

If you go to this site, have a look around. They can help you with the design, and have all the stuff you need for building the dock.

I was going to build a dock last winter on the ice using their hardware, but mother nature nixed that idea. It's in the plans for this winter tho!

Thanks for the great pictures. I was looking online for prices on hardware and decided to see what guys where using on there docks on here. Seeing your pictures really inspired me, and also cleared up an idea that I've been struggling with. How to anchor a floating dock to the shoreline. I really like your posts set in the ground, and thing I'm going to do something like that. Thank you!!!!

Eddie...not sure if you know about this site.

You may be able to get some ideas from their
photo gallery and information on the site.

I've e-mailed Ronnie Bennett the owner
a couple of times and he is really nice
and helpful. Looks like he does quality work.

Been a couple years and we have done some crazy awesome projects in the mean time:

Is there a dock archive? I think it would fit well much like the other archives.

Impressive - Thanks for sharing them!

WOW! Thanks for sharing these pics! I am fortunate to already have a plain old dock/deck on one of my ponds and I have been wanting to dress it up a bit or enlarge it for a long time. Seeing your pics really gives me some great inspiration. I have a very short dock, more like a walk way on my other pond and want to do something there too. Now the old wheels are burning rubber!

You guys do some awesome work(docks and kids included).
Great post, keep up the great work, and thank you for sharing!

Nice work Nate!
You might think about doing this for a living wink

Nate, have those bench brackets jumped up in price where you are at? I think they jumped considerably in the past few years, didn't they?
Posted By: n8ly Re: Lots of Various Dock Pictures - 10/31/12 03:34 PM
We can get them now at local menards for about $12 each so they actually went down for us.
Posted By: esshup Re: Lots of Various Dock Pictures - 10/31/12 03:43 PM
That's good news 'cause I need to buy some for my dock and was hesitant because of the price.

Hey N8 when you build docks that float but use poles for guides/stability what way do you find works the best for the dock sliding up and down on the pole.. I noticed a couple different styles on your post anyone you prefer, why?
Posted By: n8ly Re: Lots of Various Dock Pictures - 11/01/12 01:41 AM
Pretty much any pipe holder, no clear preference. Just dont want too much wiggle room in there....
Posted By: Bluegillerkiller Re: Lots of Various Dock Pictures - 11/01/12 02:37 AM
Oh that's what I used on my dock but some in your pics look like they come through the floor of the dock..

N8LY: With all of the docks you build in the midwest what is the percentage of floating vs. stationary?
Posted By: n8ly Re: Lots of Various Dock Pictures - 12/14/12 06:11 PM
75% floating and 25% stationary
