Several dozen Canada geese have invaded my 2 acre pond in N. Georgia; crapping everywhere, polluting the pond water, covering my driveway with poop, etc. I tried a $130 battery-powered, remote controlled game call with coyote call, crow call, dog barking...even a roaring lion sound....none of that worked. Somebody said get a couple of large swan decoys...that was $127 wasted; tried shooting shotgun blanks (illegal to shoot the dang geese with real ammo)...that had no effect.
I've spent many hours researching how to get rid of geese and all of those tricks failed. Then a few days ago I had the idea of buying a small remote-controlled boat; this little 15" long boat runs up to 15 mph and can be controlled up to 450 feet away. Today when it arrived from Amazon, I got the boat setup and when I ran it toward the geese in the middle of the pond I was amazed at how it startled them into flight instantly, but they just moved out of the water a couple hundred feet over to the dam, then I ran the boat over to the edge of water at the dam buzzed around in a few circles and the geese were clearly rattled by this little monster that none of them had seen before. With a lot of squawking and complaining, they all took flight and disappeared over the horizon. This all happened faster than it takes to tell the story. If they or any of their friends come back again I am sure my little monster will put back in the air.
And the good part is it is actually fun to drive this toy around even when I'm not scaring geese. I think my grandkids will have a ball with it!

I love it.

Ronl, since ya like commanding the rc boat and it helps, I'm thinking ya need a rc truck(big tires). That way an attack on land and sea. It's possible the geese might figure when they're on the ground and that pesky boat can't persue, they may get to ignore it. Keep us informed.

Great idea, I'll have to try it with water turkeys, too. Might be even more fun to put some remote control fireworks on the remote control boat... wink

I've had fun with the boat idea too, but I have too much FA (or just a bad driver).

If you don't own a green laser to deal with geese you are missing out on some easy, effective fun. YouTube it sometime and I guarantee you'll get one. I shoot mine about 500-600' from my kitchen window.

I'll have to tell some of my waterfront friends about the green lasers who are being pestered by Egyptian Geese. Down here we are being invaded by these Egyptian geese which even as a non native species, they have somehow received federal protection status.

According to sources in game management these geese are NOT reproducing, but male and female pairs are walking the lake shores with midget groups that look suspiciously like goslings chasing dogs, and children.
