Duck pond - 07/30/15 07:41 PM
Hello, i didn't know where to put this so GENERAL seems like a right place.
I've made duck pond, 7x7 meters and around half meter deep but near egde is less deep, in my pond there is around six thousands litres of water. I have little island in center of my pond. Young ducks i have put and they enjoy swimming there.
My problem is that i don't have plants and i don't know which plants are good and invasive enough so ducks won't destroy them ? Water already turned "greenish" so my thoughts is to go with some submerged oxygenating plants, they are under water so bigger chance to survive ducks. I am also worried which plant to put on edge of pond and ofcourse what to put on island in center. My thought was some tree that will shade water so no direct sun on all water surface during day but again tree have strong roots which can break my liner and make holes in pond.
I am also thinking to put some mix of earth and clay that will be on bottom so if some hole is made water will push bottom layer of earth / clay and that way it will hold water (i guess i am wrong but i will give it a try)
If some kind of fish is possible to survive my ducks that would be wonderful but i doubt it's possible..
BTW i am from Serbia, Europe i guess you already noticed English is not my native language but i hope you understood me..
