I was feeding yesterday in my forage pond. I noticed a brown water snake swim by me heading for the feeding BG's. On the way, it picked up an AMAX 505 pellet and then turned and went along the water about 6 ft from shore. Then I saw it swallow the pellet. I followed it until it got across the pond. I guess it seemed fishy enough. I hope it doesn't get conditioned.

I also saw a really big cottonmouth on the other side of the pond. I don't like that. I'm going to start trapping and seining in a couple of weeks to replenish my bigger pond. Any snake in a seine or trap is a PITA.

I've never had a cottonmouth in the seine though. In my 30 gallon barrel size trap, I'm not worried. I can kill a moccasin there or release a common brown water snake. I went back a couple of times and saw the brown snake but not the moccasin.

I'll probable just trap for awhile.

Dave I hate those things!

This dude is insane to stick his hand
in the water after he shoots the snake:

Mark, cotton mouths are the only snake that actually bothers me. They seem to have an attack mentality. The rest of the water snakes want to stay out of my way.
