I have seen several differant colors in other species of tilapia but seem to not be able to find any in the blue tilapia species.

Question is/.....

Do blue tilapia come in white , red or any other color than grey.

They are actually called red drum, they do that I feel to differentiate fro the black drum that is not black but is a very dull grey. The redfish does have a very nice redish gold color to them especially in certain water conditions.

Bobby, Pure Oreochromis Aureus do come in what is sometimes called a "pearl" color. Not albino, but a dirty looking off white. Whether it is a recessive gene or not, no one has determined yet with any certainty. Mozambique hybrids get the orange coloring and Nile tilapia hybrids get the very white colors.

Blues are normally the drab, darker grey, but will also get darker, iridescent slate blue coloring in spawn as well as the bright, deep blood red colors in the fin distal margins and tail. Colors and markings can help identify strains or verify hybridization, but only DNA can verify purity of the species strain.

Bobby,

Here are some species and color varations a supplier sells. (scroll down) Not promoting them but the page shows them in color.

Rex (Rainman) is the man for pond size tilapia that you can plant into a pond for algae control that predator fish won't eat as a snack. The below fish are shipped as one inch fry and wouldn't last long.
