Monsanto'ed Salmon?

So let me ask any of you fishery guys this question. Is selective captive breeding any different than this? If you selectively breed fish to maximize certain traits, e.g. size, aggressiveness, cold tolerance, etc, isn't this similar? Seems you would be after increasing a desired result either way.

I do have a problem with GMO foods that allow increased use of pesticides. Corn sprayed with Roundup is not appealing to me. The issue is not with the corn itself, but with the toxic chemicals that can and are used in it's production.

All this confuses me.

I'm going to comment on the GMO issue. Glyphosate, which is Roundup, attacks a plants ability to produce amino acids, eventually killing that plant. Roundup Ready Corn, soybeans, alfalfa....have a gene injected into their DNA that blocks this process. We are seeing more and more weeds developing resistance to glyohosate. Natures way of compensation.
If you eat McDonalds fries you have been eating GMO for years. Most canned sweet corn is a GMO, se, sh1.....I am not a Monsanto fan at all, but the Roundup Ready, BT corn has been a tremendous boost for the farmer. We actually use LESS toxic chemicals to produce a bushel of corn/soybeans now than ever before.

If they have perfected a fish, I'll eat it!

We've been genetically modifying animals since before Christ - just not in the lab. The media always grasps on to the negative aspect of something to make a story. And then there are those that are against everything and lack the sufficient knowledge and background to make an informed decision.
