I have a property I am looking at closer to home for more than just recreational purposes. It has a little, old farm pond that might be a tenth acre. Should I renovate or fill in? I know, filling in is usually not discussed here(taboo?). It would be a nice feature to have, but not necessary. If kept it would be for looking at, sitting around, and an emergency water source for growing things. Probably throw some forage fish in and some CC, but it definitely dries up now and will probably continue to. It is actually just down the street from the Pondboss offices. See pics:

If it was my property, I'd go down the street and knock on the door to get the Boss's opinion. Even at 1/10 ac, I still like water to look at. But, if he says fill it in, I'd ask him about using a liner... If the answer was no, then I'd fill it in.

I might breach the dam and drain it. I don't see much about it other than a nice place to breed mosquitos. I wouldn't put much investment in a silted up mess that doesn't meet my goals.

If I buy, breaching the dam and clearing at least some of the brush is first priority. Get the pond dried out and I need something in the ground to start it back down the road to ag exempt. The dam is only about 4 feet high, and I will need to rent something big enough to grub out the little scrub trees anyway. It will be sad if I fill it in because we may sell our Red River place if this works out like we plan. At least it is only 30-40 minutes away instead of 2+ hours.

It is only about 3. Ended up being zoned wrong, I needed industrial or unzoned, after a quick stop at and no wells allowed; so pretty much a dead deal but thanks for the responses.
