I wasn’t going to say anything about this, but since we are all family and this is a landmark occasion, I’m going to blab….

Yesterday I graduated from three month medical exams to six month interval examinations – cancer free for the past 24 months….!

I sincerely hope this message will reach others that experience cancer, or have loved ones that face this dreaded reality to seek early treatment.
DO NOT accept a death sentence prognosis.
Seek a second or more opinion as I did some four years ago.

I strongly recommend a research/teaching hospital where the latest medical technology and treatment will be available, that is not available to the general medical community.

I was blessed with world-class doctors and staff that saved my life.

Fantastic, george!

My Dad is cancer-free for 15 years, now. He got extremely lucky with a serendipitous early detection; they found a malignant mass in his abdomen during an emergency splenectomy. It's been a great 15 years for our whole family.

Congratulations. I can't imagine what you have been feeling. Roller coaster ride I'm sure.

George,

I'm so glad you blabbed. My wife's 82 year old aunt is spending the week with us. At age 55 she had part of a lung removed due to lung cancer. It extended the life of most of her generation of siblings and inlaws. My 86 year old father-in-law spent the weekend with us. He quit smoking the day she was diagnosed.

As you say, much success is due to teaching hospitals -- in our case, Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.

Thanks for keeping on, and for helping educate.

That's fantastic news George. I think that all of your Pond Boss family are very glad you shared it. Also great words of wisdom. Attitude is a key ingredient to successful medical treatment.

I'm also glad you shared with us George. You never know who those words will give hope and comfort to. A lot of times those you expect the least.

God bless and keep you.

Thanks to all for the support and prayers the past four years, and especially good to hear from Debra who has my gratitude for early and lasting support.

My only reason for going public with my battle with advanced invasive bladder cancer was to give hope and encouragement to all of my PB friends or family members that suffer any type of cancer, to stay positive and NEVER give up.

There are new developments in medicine and treatment available that offer hope and cure.
Thanks to all,
George

hey george, how did i miss this one?....a warm belated congratulations to you and yer family. my wife's mother (now 92) is a two time survivor, one bout about 25 years ago, the last bout about two years ago to stomach cancer....she's one tough old bird. my wife's dad (91) is a prostate cancer survior of over 30 years now and they both espouse your advice of never giving up and seeking multiple opinions.

bless you george.

Way to go George.
I really appreciate hearing about this since growing up we had a neighbor who was only a little older that I am now and he died from cancer (lung? I believe), leaving 2 little girls. Now that I have a little one of my own it scares me to think about leaving her.
Always reassuring to hear success stories.
Also glad you'll be around some more, really like reading your stories, we all have a lot to learn from you.
Thanks for sharing.
