I put this together with a small mag drive pump and some 1/2 inch pvc and fittings. Just plug it in and suck debris out of the bottom of a fish tank. (In my case small scale recirculating systems. ) Works really well!

The pump and parts. (Two different size wands. I use the long one for the swim spa. )



The pump put together with the shorter wand.



A sock zip tied on to catch debris. A leg of a pantyhose works well too.


The discharge section acts as a handle:

I used it to get rid of some ferric iron debris that was on the bottom in a corner after we first filled it. Just pointed and it was gone!

It may be simple, but You can't say it's a cheap set-up for the poor guy.

You gotta make sure the socks don't have holes in them.
