I sure don't play tennis but I sure have all the symptoms. The timing couldn't be worse. I have some serious Sago Pondweed I want to whack off in the big pond but it's not going to happen now.

Cecil, I had it years ago and would almost cry when someone shook my hand. I also had back problems and was put on anti-inflamatory drugs and it eventually went away. I can truthfully say I feel your pain.

To cut my weeds? Naah. I wouldn't wish that on anybody! I have noticed the sago or whatever it is in the big pond is coated with algae. It may smother the sago. One of my texts show a method of getting rid of macrophytes just that way.

I had tennis elbow bad a couple times when I played baseball in high school and college. At times I was taking so much Advil to get through a game I hate to think of all the damage I did to my liver. I usually started out with 8 before the game and took another one each inning thereafter. When I look back, wow that was a lot of ibuprofen!

I get it when I'm on the Computer too much. I take Aleve twice a day.

Cecil I feel for you, at least you have the option of not using your elbow. I'm operating an old 80 ton Lorain Koehring friction crane on a job right now setting iron on a new building and my left knee is killing me. Ibuprofen isn't helping, it feels like the front of my leg and my knee cap have been beat with a ball bat. We are working 8's and by 2 o'clock my leg is whipped, I can't use my other leg because it is running the throttle. Thing is the job is only a 3 week gig, so I have two weeks left to go, my only fear is it will leave me unable to do other work, but I need the money. Pro football players play thru the pain, but they work under multi-million dollar contracts too...

I thought it was Sago, and Bill said it was narrow leaf pondweed. Mine is covered with algae as well, but I want the algae to disappear. I spot treated a couple of FA areas with the Phycomycin and it worked. 3 days and gone.

Cecil, do you know about those velcro straps that you can put just below the elbow joint?? They really work. They keep everything in place while you heal and the inflammation has time to decline.

As a matter of fact, I had it so bad that I got a cortison shot into the elbow last Munday. It took the cortison 2 days till it stated too kick in. Initially after the shot the pain was worse and my wife was icing it for me every hour or so. But now the pain is managable. I am continuing to ice the elbow and to wear the sleeve my MD gave me. The MD told me it could take up to 9 months to heal. And no chain sawing for me.

Thanks for all your kind words. It is getting better. As a matter of fact I woke up this morning and there was no pain at all. However once I started using it it started to reappear a little.

JoeG I feel for you with that knew. Been there done that when I was in crosscountry and track in highschool. Knee problems can be really painful! My coach said to just run it out but the specialist said that would have been the worst think I could be. My problem was caused by my hamstrings out of balance with my front muscles which isn't uncommon in runners.

Glad to hear it ebbed a little Cecil, none of this getting older stuff is really much fun. My fear is that my knee will be a recurring thing now, I will be 41 on the 7th of July. I keep telling folks that I'm not 35 anymore so I do have to slow down some....

I think the seat is the problem in the crane, it won't slide back any further and I have long legs, bad angle of attack for me.

Esshup the height isn't the problem, the seat is so close to the pedals that I'm using more of the front of my calf to push the pedal than the quadricep muscles that normally do the pushing from my upper leg. The tendons at the knee cap are what is giving me the fits. Only 2 more weeks of it and I'm out of there, my leg will probably stop hurting by then after adapting to the old girl. I'm just glad it's not a pile driving job, that uses 3 drums and both legs would be this way, heh heh.

Dave was right about the strap, I had tennis elbow and didn't want to quit playing so I bought a fancy strap that had two curved plastic pieces that clamped on my arm just below the elbow. Worked well, then I changed to a lighter racket and it went away.

You might want to try glucosamine chondroitin which you can buy at the drug store in the vitamin section. It has helped me with tennis elbow and other joint pains. A fishing buddy of mine who does a lot of tournament fishing almost had to quit fishing because his tennis elbow got so bad. He started taking glucosamine chondroitin and his tennis elbow went away. The only down side is that it takes about one month of daily use before it works. I take 2 tablets per day. It might be worth a try.

Love this stuff. Got me through last summer's baseball season. I ran track and cross country competitively though high school and after, grew up on a farm where we'd jump off everything and played no pads football every Saturday for years with guys twice my size, so my knees took a beating. A couple years ago I began training for a marathon. Ran a few miles in the heat and came inside to the AC to cool off. My knees started screaming. Felt like bone on bone. Continued to hurt from there, especially going down stairs. GC helped a ton! Was able to play virtually pain free and felt almost like I was 20 again (at least the knees did ).

My parents take it but it seems rather expensive for continuous use.

I'm on it due to some arthritus problems. The cost isn't important to me. The pain is.

Again a tennis thing, my right knee was causing a pinching kind of pain when I walked up stairs after playing. I took it for about 5 or six months after the month or so it took for the pain to go away.

That was 10 years ago and the pain never returned.
