This is probably weird, but we planted purple potatoes this year and made mashed taters out of them last night to go along with the bass I caught.

We grew those growing up as well, but never had them mashed.

Should have had some white carrots with them.

They do have a slightly sweeter taste than the white ones. They are not quite as productive as the white or the red ones. White carrots and white asparagus, sounds like a real meal.

Seems like you should write a book for children Heybud.

Something like "Purple potatoes and spam."

I found some of those colored taters at a farmer's roadside stand last year, except they were blue. Offered to bring the mashed potatoes to that Sunday's get together at the in-laws. The looks they got were priceless, tasted good too grin. The little kids really loved them.

She had maroon red okra too grin

Love this thread. Makes me feel like my 4 year old son is actually going to like stuff like this when he gets older because he starts almost every day with oatmeal that we drop a little food dye in to color it either blue, red, or yellow! laugh Purple mashed potatoes will be a natural for him!
