Yes that is a photo of the actual cake, we had a great lunch and a relaxing day. (Which is what Ricki requested that we do.)


The highlight of the day was that one of Ricki's sisters (the youngest) sent Ricki a square pillow that was partially made from the fabric of a shirt that her dad liked to ware. She also enclosed a photo of Ricki standing next to her dad while he was wearing the shirt. It was an incredibly touching and thoughtful present.

i dont know jhap, i see a 50 and only count 8 candles, is this some kind of secret birthday IRS calculation code?

No secret code, it went down like this. I put the "Five" and then the "Zero" on the cake. With just those two candles on the cake it looked lopsided. So I added the two directly opposite the "50". Now it looked more balanced but the sides then looked barren. So I added the side candles to make the cake ascetically appealing. As it turns out adding candles to a birthday cake is much more difficult than one would imagine.

Another birthday for Ricki (aka JWHAP)!!!

We had planned on being at the pond property but work overrode play. That's probably just as well because Northern California is gonna get hammered by a storm (snow down to 2,000 feet and our property is at about 2,100 feet).

It's raining here in So Cal, we're planning to spend a quite day at home.

I still can't believe that I suckered her into to marrying me, sheesh what was she thinking?

Who knows what she was, or even if, she was thinking Jeff? Personally, I suspect water-boarding was involved though!

You are indeed a lucky man! Like you, I thank God and Al Gore for inventing the internet buddy! We would both be far less blessed without it.
