Greetings all! Am putting the finishing touches on a book about pond and lake construction. Collaborating with Mike Otto. The book needs a name.
So, who better to come to than this forum? We have some quick-witted thinkers here.
How about a catchy name for a pond/lake construction book?
The winner gets the first copy off the presses, signed (if you want it signed) along with a year's free subscription to the magazine.
Email me direct, if you wish. pondboss@texoma.net.
Winner will be announced as soon as we go through the mountain of emails (ha.)
Thanks, all.
"Toy Manufacturing for Big Boys" - actually, that was my wife's suggestion.

I'm surprised Nick Smith didn't call it...
"Aw Shucks Officer, If You'd Have Been Here Ten Minutes Ago You'd Have Seen Me While I Was Still On Fire."
I'd give some deep multiple-level play on words catchy title such as:
"Walking on Water: Engineering the perfect pond"
Or you could sell out and give it a quasi-racy title like:
"The Big Lake Erection Handbook"
which might sell a few extra copies, but then you would probably have to deal with a few disgruntled purchasers who might demand refunds...Or maybe not...The disgruntled buyers might be to embarrassed to complain.
Couple of thoughts:

Someone else had posted an idea like this for a Pond Boss bumper sticker or something like that:
"Befriend a fish, build a pond."

Do Bill and Dudley get extra points for all capital letters. If so can I have a re-do.
:p
Bob,
When is Selection Day?
No extra points for Dud, Sweetwater. I just figured I couldn't go far wrong if I do as Bill does. Of course, my suggestion is unique in that it might give Ray Scott an adrenaline rush.
Good one Dudley!!! Smart, very smart.
How about:
BUY THIS BOOK
I'll show you how to put the p in your pond.
I think the title should be kept simple, make it logically follow "Raising Trophy Bass", the sequel "Building Trophy Lakes" !
Keep 'em coming! There are several which struck me..but I want to see more. Selection day is two weeks away.
Ok, I give up!
Kelly
Hey, "visualization" is important..... ha
Ok Duffie, you had to go the extra mile and do graphics. Too bad your title simply wasn't as good as mine.
OK, my pick so far is "Lusk Otto Know!" HA HA HA HA. That is the best yet. Unfortunately, only funny to those familiar with PondBoss. But it gets my vote.

or (the most descriptive title yet)

Which suggestion was selected?
How about "Be your own Pond Boss - Detailed Construction Techniques and Ecosystem Estalishment" Then put a shovel in the fins of that fish with the red hat on the cover.
RETIRE TO HAWG HEAVEN-BUILD A POND!
Noticed Duffie was the only was posting "covers". So here's my first submittal.
Took a suggestion from above to make the "Pond Boss" hold a shovel.
Chris
Any way you can put the fish in a dozer?
tritonvt,
The photo looks like a West Texas pond after filling for three years.
LBuck, both pictures are from one of Otto's articles in a previous PB.
Dave, I hadn't thought of that and thought it would be fun to try. I laugh everytime I look at this picture.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Chris
Is that a fish in the red hat? I always thought it was Bob.
Lusk I wish that you would hurry and pick a winner. This is getting pretty pitiful. Next we will see Cecil's record perch in a red hat, driving a dozer, dragging hogzilla, while holding a shovel in one fin and a fishing rod in the other.
So who won this dang this, anyway?
Hey Lusk, since you are lurking "in the wings" these days - I repeat Bruce's comment of "So who won this dang thing, anyway?"
I ask, Bob, how soon is the new book going to be available. Were there delays at the printers?
Bill, quit poking fun at Bob, he is too busy for "that" book, he's upstate in NY raking in the big bucks
I think he told Otto, "you write it" I'll edit
Eastland - I recall that Bob told us that the book was about finished and I quote him from his initial post to say: "Am putting the finishing touches on a book about pond and lake construction." Bruce and I are not harassing Bob we just want to see some more of his insightfull comments here. WE MISS HIM!
. Bruce is interested in the contest prize, I'm interested in seeing the "dirty" book!.
Back when I got to spend some time w/ Lusk in late July '05, I inquired about the status of the book.
I hope I'm not taking any liberty here, but Lusk said he needed about 4-5 days without any distractions to finish it up.
Busy man.
Okay boys.....my intentions are always good, just sometimes my timing isn't. Sunil is right...I need four uninterrupted days...that's my fault. I am tugged in many directions, and when I make the final edit, then select photos, I want this book to be the absolute best it can be. It's written, must be edited once more, then photos selected, then go to layout to be designed. At that point, I will go back through this thread, and take all this stuff to heart. I hope everyone understands...I set aside time to finish this project, then someone calls with an opportunity I can't pass up..rearrange the schedule a bit, and I go. It's a great life, and I will ride it until it drops. So, this book project will be an "in the meantime" project...I will get it done, promise.
Thanks for bringing it up again. Crow tastes good with a little salt and roux.
Bob - I definately understand being too busy. That is why you haven't received any of my PB articles yet. Many of us can relate to your situation.
How About.. "If we build it, they wont float" After thinking about it, this would probably look better on the door of a pond construction contractors truck
