can anyone tell me what it would cost me to run a smaller diffuser per month for a half acre pond?

It costs me about $25 a month to run a 1/4 horse model 24/7. I run a Kasco deicer in the summer only to circulate the water. The bills in the summer with both running 24/7 is around $70.

Here is how you figure the cost. Take Volts x Amps = Watts. Watts x 1000 = kilowatts/Kilowatts x running hours = kilowatt hours. Kilowatt hours x your local rate = cost. Call your electric company and get the rate. As an example a 1/2HP draws 5 amps @115 volts at start up, and running amps are about 60% of that. Start up pulls more power and when you get it running it drops to 60%

I wanted to clarify an above post on calculating cost of electricity. Best to use an example.

A fan uses 120 Volts and pulls 2 amps while doing so. (Either measure amperage with an amp meter or use 60% of the rating on the plate like the above post said. Best to actually read it with a meter for accuracy.)

120 V X 2 A = 240 watts.
240 watts = .24 kilowatts (a kilowatt is 1000 watts)

running it 12 hours per day
.24 kilowatts X 12 hours = 2.88 kilowatt-hours.

cost of kilowatt-hour from electric company = .09 cents.
2.88 X .09 = 26 cents a day to run that motor for 12 hours per day.
