Am writing this post to see if anybody on this forum has the pleasure of having an exit pond. The thing about it is I started putting these in alot of the ponds that I construct to help in alot of different reasons which I will explain. The benefits of these are numerous and helpful to the pond or lake as a way to help keep fish that otherwise would go downstream or be run out on a field to die in a puddle somewhere.I like to have a good supply of forage fish around to feed some of the trophy fish that I want in my pond it is good to throw these in after a hard winter and before the winter to get the body weight up as much as possible. Here in IN. we had about 3 months of ice on this winter and with that much time and all the other things to worry about I didn't want to let these fish go hungry at all if I can get them through the winter as healthy as they were in the fall they are not likely to stunt or stress. That is where these come in to the picture they are easy to construct and serve a great way to keep large amounts of forage fish to stock or use as bait or let the kids go down there and catch one right after another for a great Sunday outing while you get some quality time stalking that trophy to put on the wall. There is alot of these that develop on there own where the pipe empties out of the pond or lake.If you check these out you will find the prize that I'm talking about. The ones that I put in are alot more of a design to help serve their purpose. If anybody has an interest in this please post and tell your story would like to here all about it. THANKS DOC

Doc, I have 2 smaller ponds below my big pond. The first is more of a channel, and the second is about the size of a hockey rink. The big pond is about 4.5 - 5 acres.I inherited fish in the two bigger ponds with the purchase early last year(as far as I could tell only LMB)After reading everything I could @ this site, I proceded to stock adult Blugill and some Redear and install cover that the pond lacked. In the channel I stocked Fatheads figuring I could add a non- costly boast to the fishing holes from time to time. This also works good for easy access bait fish. This year the pond is getting more adult bluegills, spawning beds, and a floating dock. Also going to add a harvest program this year. Here (hopefully) is an aerial photo of the ponds. If anybody thinks there is something else I could be doing, please speak up, I'm all ears!
