I post this question on another topic before but here goes again. Is there a way to add everyone who wanted to of course to a map? I like using google maps to check out others ponds. Just think it would be a cool feature. But setting that up is way over my head for sure

That would be interesting! Not sure that anyone would want to see my want to be pond. Lol!

I love all bodies of water. Down the little kio ponds to the ocean. I like seeing different ideas for docks and just the landscape of ponds. I drive by a few peoples place and wanted to stop and invite them to the forum but dont know how a stranger would take to that idea. I'm always thinking that would be a beautiful spot for a pond. If I had a dozer I probably wouldn't have any yard left. I'd probably have a moat around the house. Anyone have an extra dozer lol.

I can really appreciate the idea. Being "charitable AND cautious", I would open my home to a fellow PB member pretty quickly, but would not just post my location down to the latitude and longitude for all to see.

Side Note: If you looked at my pond from google maps...you'd see the sorry excuse it was 3 years ago.

With that said, anybody that wants to visit can PM me and we can go from there.

No ground would be sacred at my place if I had a set of keys to a track loader!

LoL I'm not so keen on opening my home up to everyone. I'm not sure what anyone could really do around my place besides maybe fish. And if you're reading this ur welcome to come fish anytime. Ya might want to wait thou I'm in the middle of a redig. I'm doing its myself on a 33 hp kubota so its taking sometime to get done.

You'd be amazed at how much time could be killed by pond junkies standing on the bank, or in a pond in progress, talking shop. Especially if there were cold ones on hand...lol.

I've always felt the same way about bodies of water. I love them all, big or small. I even like looking at rain water in a ditch. Lol!
I'm mostly referring to the fact that my pond is no where near full yet. If and when it fills, I think it will look good, even if it's not as impressive as some. Lol!

If you got a tanker truck we have plenty of water here to go around.

My ponds are down too. We are in the midst of a very localized drought. Areas not far from here have received four inches this month. We got 1.44 inches in small increments. Lawn grass growing rains, I call them. They are good for little else.

Mine is down some also . Went from too much water to not any rain in six weeks....

I am an Excavating contractor, I doubt that Im the only one that drives down a back road and looks at the topography and imagines what a nice body of water could be established with just how many yards of dirt to be moved, and also admire an existing body of water somebody created and maintained or left to look like crap, overgrown or just originally made for a cattle watering hole, Ive been hired to make a few of those too.

Lots of lurkers on the interwebs.

Might as well post a big sign out by the road that says "Free fish. Catch all you want."

Just to be clear here. I'm not saying put it on google maps. JUst thought there could be a place for the user of the forum to see each others places. It could be an invite only post if that's possible.

The Amazing Ribs forum has a map of members, locations simply placed approximately, such as me in northwest Bexar county. Useful for inviting nearby members' get-togethers.

RStringer...I always thought it would be a cool feature for PondBoss to add the ability for each member of the forum to add 1-4 pictures in their profile. Like a little mini-gallery that is optional for each forum member to use if they so choose. That way when your reading someone's post about their pond you could easily click on their profile and visually see their pond. I think most of us have curiosity as to what the pond looks like we are discussing.

Any Star Wars fan will want to come pay respect to your pond. Wow, a water Millennium Falcon!

I would settle for my two newish ponds just being on Google maps. My location hasn't updated since 8-2015.
Posted By: RStringer Re: Map of users ponds - 08/20/19 02:42 PM
I had to google that. Never heard of it sorry never was a star wars fan. Only on I like was Return of the Jedi. My wife says it looks inappropriate lol. If I would have thought it out I would have made it bigger.

guys,
if you have google earth pro, we can just start sharing pins. If the photo is on pond boss, then you can copy the address and put it with the pin. you can start your own database.
here is a test pin for a puddle in Arkansas with a pic of that nice bg/res.
they are not related, just a test.
because it wont allow an upload of .kmz file, i added to .zip

Attached File
Random Pond in AK.zip  (145 downloads)

It looks like the zip file works. I tried to add the link into my signature, to see if it could exist there, but i'm not having any luck getting the signature to display.
Anyway, its a start.
Edit:
Now i see that i had a preference turned off that shows the signature line. The random pin is in my signature line for now. let me know if it works.

AK is the abbreviation for Alaska. Arkansas is AR. Thanks.

Ah, yes, thanks for the correction.

I’m not real enthusiastic about posting pics and/or location of my pond. I don’t live there and have had poacher problems in the past.

However I gotta admit that the local poachers can find any pond on Google Earth.
Posted By: RStringer Re: Map of users ponds - 08/20/19 11:21 PM
I understand that for sure. My pond will be about 50 feet from our pool deck. We are almost always home so not to worried bout it myself.
