Hello everyone,

I purchased some land in upstate NY this summer and am excited to start construction on one, possibly two ponds this coming year. I'd love to buy a book or two to read over the winter to familiarize myself with the topic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Mike Otto's book, Just Add Water, is a great introduction into pond construction. Probably my steepest learning curve was the importance of proper soils & dam cores in holding water.

I used to live in upstate NY and loved it despite the winters. Lake Champlain rocked long before the pro bass tour discovered it!
Agree on Otto’s book. Another one, a college textbook, is Small Impoundment Management in North America by Dave Willis. Lusk, Otto, and others have chapters in it.
