This year I have a pretty heavy infestation of parasites(red sores) on my CPNBG and LMB but the BC seem to be parasite free.

My insurance agent came over yesterday to fish and we caught 26 BC and none had parasites. I wanted to show him the CPNBG and every 3rd fish I caught had them. Also about 25% of the LMB have them.

So how can one species avoid infestation?
Do the parasites/sores on the CPNBG & BC go away?

They should go away.... but you may lose a few of them you never know. Do you have a lot of birds at your pond? They carry all kinds of junk... Herons, Geese, Ducks.... ugh I keep them all away I don't care how pretty they look.

Do you have any RES in your pond? You must break the link. When I first got my pond I had this funky moving amebia looking thing on my fish it looked like a very small flounder... Yuck!! Every fish I caught that had them I got rid of. Then I put in 75 larger RES.

The RES will help break the chain.

Here is how it works. Birds come to the pond they leave behind parasites from their mouth or poop. Parasite floats in water till it finds a host well most times that host is a snail. Once it get a hosts to grow from then it detaches itself from that and goes and finds a fish to infect or something to that aspect anyway... not sure if I'm exactly right on the steps but anyway...

RES eat snails.... Hence the nickname ShellCraker once I put the RES in my pond a year later I have never seen another parasite in my water yet. Specially on my fish. Just FYI....

I added RES last year but they were small in a high preditor environment.

I need to get some more.

Wasn't there an article in one of the recent PB magazines about that?

Did some fishing yesterday and was pleasantly surprised that the fish I caught didn't have parasites anymore.

My CNBG were Huuge and fat and the 6.5# bass I caught was fat and healthy as well.

I guess the parasites dropped off???
