The ice on Bremer Pond will be gone by tomorrow morning. Very early for these parts.
had a thin rim of ice last night, complete ice out by morning today. Wow!
Ice has been out on my pond in south central Iowa for one week already.
We are under a blizzard warning starting at 6 PM so winter is still going to have her way with us.
I was going to say..."it might be gone now, but should be coming back again."
We've had several days in the mid 60's here with nights around 50.
I think I could probably feed fish right now.....February in PA!!
Woke up this morning with all the ice off our pond. It reached 14C today about 63F.
Going to turn on the deep water air stations and turn off the shallow ones then place the air and waterfall on day time run only.
I've been feeding since February 16th. Bear in mind I have ice fished as late at early March at my place. We had 7 days of temps in the 70s already in Feb. and broke multiple records. Weather turning back to 40s-50s which is still much warmer than it had been historically. Our weather seems to be more Kansas like every year.
I tried to feed last Sunday, but water temp was 44 F which I think is just too low.
I didn't even see any fish.
Up in central MN, it's opening up everywhere. Not going to lie, I would have liked to have seen one more month of cold and ice.
We have set heat records.
We only had 3 days of ice cover this winter here in south-central Illinois. Had a few mornings with a skim of ice that was gone by noon. Been feeding fish all winter but not as many as normal and I cut back to 3 days a week. Last week they've been eating like it's summer but I haven't gone to feeding everyday yet.
Root crops are even a little chilly.
Low temps the next three nights around 30.
Fish in the shallows are gone; back to warmer deeper water.
Mother nature will have her way!
