Its time to think about the next get together out at the farm. So, Here is the official announcement.
Those interested, mark your calendar. We are planning for early Nov, but not the first weekend, that is the opening of Deer season, so that's out. I am looking at the second or third weekend in Nov as the options.
The last two were a lot of fun. I'll have a few new toys to demonstrate and the fishing should be outstanding this year. And with any luck the new Topias should be in place.

Thanks Highflyer !! That is real nice of you for the invitation. Nice Place for sure.

I have a hard time planning further out than this weekend, but sounds like fun.
Being new to Pond ownership in E TX and to this forum, it sounds like fun being able to meet some of you all. Looking forward to more details this fall. Thanks for the invite.
Thanks for the invite, Brian! I'd love to go, will do so if schedule permits.
By the way, would it be okay if my thirty-something son joined me? He was at the PB Conference in Dallas and is learning the ropes, just like me.
Brian,
That sounds real nice...I hope to make it as well...
Charlie
Thanks Brian.
God-willing...count me in.
Love the weather that time of year and can't wait to see your place again.
Let me know if I can bring anything.
Cathy asked me yesterday if this was happening again...We'll prolly be there! Thanks!
I'll be there if possible Brian. Thanks for the invite!
I am glad to see new people interested in coming out and getting to know other PB folks in person. In the past, these have been a real blast. Right now, the big pond is full and the water has a perfect green tint and the visibility is 21 inches on the secchi disc. We have had at least three BG spawns and the LMB, CC and Crappie are doing well. I'll be working on a few new project this summer and hopefully, they will be ready by this fall.
The invite is open to PB members and family.
The rules are simple. Everyone and everything is treated with respect. We play hard if able/desired. And we pray before we eat.
Everyone should feel at home and have a great time.
Brian
Sounds like a good time!
brian,
If it's not uncouth, i would like to crash the party,
Thanks,
brian
BC,
There will be no crashers, but you are invited.
See you then.
Brian I would love to come again but looks like I may have previous commitments in that time frame. Will make it if possible, but likely not.
If there's sweet tea available, I'll probably be there.
You southern Freaks are most likely gonna need someone from NORTH of the Mason-Dixon line to ensure a good time.
I'll see if Al Sharpton can make it.
Sunil, I'm tearing up as we speak. Your concern over our well being is admirable to say the least.
IIRC, your little whip can get down here in about 3 hours. I'll leave the light on for you.
I too feel a hug coming on.....
Al Sharpton? I feel something coming up, too.
Thanks for the open invite Bryan. I will put it on my calendar. Count me in. Whatever you need me to bring, I will be glad to help in any way. Just PM me your needs.
THANKS TO YOU AND THOSE WHO SERVED TO GIVE US THIS FREEDOM ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND AND ALL THROUGH THE YEARS AND MY ALMOST 60 YEARS ON THIS EARTH. AS WE ALL KNOW AND SOMETIMES FORGET, FREEDOM "HAS" AND "NEVER" WILL BE FREE.
Freedom is not free. But it is one of my most cherished possession.
About the get together, Glad you are coming. We can figure out the logistics as we get closer.
+ 1 a thousand times over!
Okay,
We are just over two months away, time to really start planning.
The big pond is full, the CNBG and LMB seem to be doing great and I have upgraded Tilapitopia to V4. There is solar to look at and If there are brave folks, the fyke net and seine net will get used.
Its time to work on the headcount.
Who's in?
I am planning on the second or third weekend in Nov.
Brian,
I would like to attend.
Charlie
I am still in.
looking forward to seeing the topias
brian
Freedom is not free. But it is one of my most cherished possession.
If the national anthem is played at the High Flyer Ranch
during this event I promised I will not stay seated!
I still haven't found out if there's gonna be sweet tea available. I like Red Diamond. Just sayin'.
Brian,
I would like to attend.
Thanks,
Scott
Mark,
It will be played.
Allen,
Sweet tea is available. All you can drink. Red Diamond sounds right.
The list starts.
I'm relatively new to the program and it would be great to meet the locals, especially since I'm close there in Mineola.
Hey! Looks like I might be able to make it after all. Commitment thought I had is late November this year instead of earlier.
Brian, Thank you for the invitation. I am sure hoping to be there. My wife and I make an annual trip each year to White River Ark to see the changing of the tree leaves and we fish for the nice trout that live in the river along with some SMB fishing in Bull Shoals lake. Scheduling is usually the last week of Oct and stay through the second week of Nov., so the 2nd or 3rd week end of Nov looks manageable for me. I am looking forward to meeting up with the good people like Brian (highflyer).
Tracy
Sweet tea is available. All you can drink. Red Diamond sounds right.
I'm in.
Yeah that sounds like a blast unfortunately the second and third weekends in Nov here in ARK are some of the best hunting for the year for deer so I'll be in a stand somewhere I'm sure.... Thanks though Brian hope yall have fun!!
RC
Sweet tea is available. All you can drink. Red Diamond sounds right.
I'm in.
Al, Red Diamond is what I used to drink before Gold Peak came to be. Like Syi, I go nowhere without my Gold Peak sweet tea
you need to try some gold peak sweet tea
Tracy
Okay, there will be two Tea options, that's even better!
RC, if you get the trophy early, I expect you to try to be here. Here's to opening day good luck for you.
Okay, there will be two Tea options, that's even better!
if Sunil shows up!
I stand corrected,
There will be three types of tea available!
Sunil,
Second or third weekend in Nov, depending on weather forecast. As we get close, We will set the date. But for now the second weekend is the primary target date.
Can you make it?
Right now, it's clear, but it'll be hard to commit until we get closer to the date.
Will come if I can. Loads of fun !
Okay, we are about one month out. It is time to start getting the numbers counted.
I have a few new things to show, but I think it is just going to be a good time talking to other good folks.
Who's in?
I'll be there. Is there a signup sheet for stuff to bring?
I'll also be bringing a bag of Optimal BG food to give away.
The dates look open right now. Count on two.
I'll be there. Is there a signup sheet for stuff to bring?
I'll also be bringing a bag of Optimal BG food to give away.
Chris, if you still have the four bags of Optimal BG food, I'd be glad to bring you a check for them at the gathering.
I hope to be there on second weekend. Third would be tougher due to , Thanksgiving week plans.
Brian appreciate you and Heather hosting this upcoming event.
Count me in and let me know if I can bring BBQ, Beer, Desserts, etc.
I would like to attend if it's the second weekend. The third weekend I'll be whooping it up at the A&M game.
Let me know what we can bring.
Scotty,
The second Saturday of Nov is the target date. The third Saturday is the weather backup.
About a list of stuff to bring, lets wait until we see how big the turnout looks before we worry about stuff.
Chris, sounds good, raffle or challenge?
John, RSVPs for two is in the books.
Mark, we love it. It is one of the reasons we made the improvements, to share them.
...Chris, sounds good, raffle or challenge?...
How about lawn darts at 50 paces?
The medical bills would probably cost way more than the bag of Optimal, but who doesn't love a challenge?

A challenge would be great. I'll try and think of something.
My wife and I may come by for a few hours.
What can we bring?
Chris,
You are in charge of your challenge, just remember some of the guests are grandparents...
Mark,
Your posters get more and more elaborate every time! If you keep that up, in a few years, they won't fit on a poster board, yet alone a T-shirt!!
Okay, there are two others coming as well.
George's better half, Nicky, and their youngest son Jeff are going to come out as well.
As I count, there will around 20-25 people coming out to enjoy the day so far accounted for. I can't wait.
And there might be a surprise guest or two attending. More soon...
Chris,
You are in charge of your challenge, just remember some of the guests are grandparents...
So no 50 yard dash through pond muck?
Okay, here is an announcement about a special guest.
Bob Lusk is planning to attend! Yes the Pond Boss himself is planning to attend, But wait, there is more......

I've got a bad leg so will pass on this one.
Maybe we could substitute a contest for best algae salad recipes? I've got a killer for blue-green algae. Literally.
Okay, here is an announcement about a special guest.

Sounds terrific! Haven't seen Bob in a while, look forward to talking with the guru...

I am planning on the second or third weekend in Nov.
I still need to get with stickem', but hope to be clearing Charlie's pond about time for the gathering after doing a renovation on a Tulsa church pond. Maybe I can mooch off some PB'rs if need be for a few days, barge in tow. I may have to fly solo this year if working also.
Let me know what to bring!!!
Chris,
You are in charge of your challenge, just remember some of the guests are grandparents...
...
We could play Wahoo for it.Never mind, I cheat.
I will be happy to meet Mr. Lusk, although after watching so many of his videos feel like I already know him!
Well, you can also met Mike Otto!! He is coming as well!
I can't make second weekend. but if by chance weather moves it back I'll sure try.
highflyer, my son and myself will be coming as well. Let me know what I can do or bring.

Illinois was finally forced to return it...It'll be there, cased....lol
Hmmm....my football coaching duties will be over, and you Texans are crazy about tannerite...I'd better be there to supervise.
Tj,
Come on down, your the next contestant!
Sounds like you are going to have a heck of a turnout Brian. That is great!
I can't waitJohn,
This is why we built it, to share it with friends and family.
Brian sorry Mondays are hard for me, will call you back tomorrow! Thanks for reaching out...gotta see if Al is ready for another visit, too.
Won't be able to make it. Things have changed. My Grandson turned 18 yesterday. His Birthday present is a mule deer hunt in deep South Texas. He wants me to go with him. Can't say no to a deal like that.
He started hunting with me at age 4. He had his BB gun and I had my 30-06. He got to take the first shot. If it wasn't a clean kill I finished it off. We've been hunting together ever since.
He goes away to College next year so this will be one of our last hunts together. He will be majoring in wildlife and fisheries management. Not sure about career prospects but we will see.
He's now 6'4", 235 pounds, and all muscle. Not sure where my little partner went.
Hate to miss seeing you guys.
Won't be able to make it.
Ah hell....hate to hear that. If something changes, let me know you can hop in my SUV in Lewisville and I will chauffeur you down to Winnsboro Dave. Have fun with your grandson.
Thanks, I was looking forward to this.
Dave,
You will be missed, but have a great time with your grandson. Look forward to seeing you at the next one.

Once I have a good number, I'll be asking for some help on stuff for lunch. I'll get the BBQ and sides from the same place as before and we can go from there. Allen is in charge of the ice tea QC. Everything else is negotiable.
Next week, I'll PM everyone the address and the best way to find the gate. (its hidden in the trees)
The fish are bitting and the water is perfect.
The wife and I have it marked on the calendar. Put us down for being there! What time should we start showing up? Please let us know what we need to bring and anything we can do to help. Thanks again. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

We will be getting a motel the night before and I think if we could bring a desert it might travel the best.
We are good to go on the expected date but if it has to go to the alternate weather date we have other commitments.
Looking forward to it.
I would not mind having something like you do at our place some time for the people up in our neck of the woods (or anyone else that wanted to travel a ways). Getting to be quite a number of PBF members in the Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas area. Maybe next year.
Please add my wife to the list also. Thanks!!

Looks like my youngest daughter wants to hunt that weekend. I won't make it unless she finds something better to do.Be sure to get plenty of pics!
Dave glad the hunt is delayed. Looking forward to seeing you next week.

Yeah, we have been looking at the forecast as well. It is looking good!
Add a +1 for me....Cathy will be driving to Tulsa to meet me at a job site and we'll leave from there.
I'll miss ya, Good Brian...I hope the new high fence around you became a funnel for you...Happy hunting!
I'll try to get a couple gallons of salsa made tomorrow.....
I'm a firm no, sadly - daughter has a performance Sunday it's a big deal. Sorry guys, I'm always the last to know about these things.
Here is what we know now:
TJ will be with his other family (good choice) and Rex will be bringing Cathy.

It is now time to get ready. The list for things to bring is simple. We have two canoes, three kayaks and two little boats for fishing. I'll set up the fyke net if there is interest. The big seine will come out and get demonstrated, and T4 should be up and running.
Please bring a folding chair as we only have about 10 chairs at the place.
Food: We are going to get the BBQ from the same local place as the last time. Drinks, chips, small snacks and deserts are the other staples we will need. We have paper plates and plasticware for all.
It is time to get specific. Are there any special requests like Red Diamond Tea?
Fishing: It will be encouraged, please bring your favorite gear. There are size and shape limits. I am also hoping some one pulls out a new record LMB, hears hoping!
Highflyer, how large is your pond or ponds? Wife and I definantly still plan on being there!!
Flame,
The topias are 10th acre ponds, Little pond is 1/2 acre and big pond is around 10 acres.
Eric West is now confirmed. Can't wait to see you again.

Thanks
Brian
Would have loved meeting and visiting, but it's my daughters last soccer game. Enjoy and have a great time.
Joshua, We will miss you, see you next time.
Bcotton, bummer, see you next time as well.

Thanks for water and some soda, great.
Anthropic,

So far the list for stuff is as followed:
We will be getting BBQ and sides from local BBQ place.

We still need some chips, more water and soda, other deserts. Other food you would like to share.
Anyone with another canopy that can bring it would be helpful. Remember to please bring a chair or two if you have them. We only have around 10 chairs. Also, if some one has a folding table that they can bring, lunch will be easier to disk out.
I can bring ice tea. Is 2 sweet, 1 un-sweet enough??? Also two large bags of chips and some cookies.
Carolynn will make what she calls Texas cocoa cake. We will also bring a bag of chips and some regular and unleaded soda.
I may have a 10x10 EZ-up pop-up tent....lemme check

We can bring folding tables. I still have a few left over from backyard cage matches.

And the most unexpected turn of events, Allen has ended his cage match days and will be bringing a folding table or two, I sure hope he cleaned them first
Put me down as bringing sugar cookies and cupcakes too.
I will bring some snacks as well. Post what you need as time gets close.
Dave,
Have a good time hunting!
Mark,
Sounds good.
Eric,
Thanks for the snacks.
At this point, the BBQ, potato salad, beans, and coleslaw has ordered and should be ready at 11AM. The drinks and snacks seem to be in order as well. We have two pop ups and several tables. I think we are in business!
To those who may not have seen their PM, or to anyone that wants to come and has not received a PM, PLEASE send me a PM and I'll get you going in the right direction.

See you'all tomorrow.
Be there or be square!
Rock on, Bros!!!!

Please join us and hoist one for all former pondmeisters

I think a property owner down the road a ways had a burn pile.
Looks like a beautiful day!
We got lucky with outstanding weather.
Had a great day. Thanks Brian and Heather!
Great bunch of people.
Bryan has a beautiful place. Thank y'all for inviting me....I had a blast and it was good to see everyone again.
I sure hated missing everyone this year!!!
Wow! How big is that pond/lake?
One could not ask for a better day for a get together. I learned from Mr. Lusk and Mr. Otto on how to check on used dirt moving equipment prior to purchase. Discussed equipment rental verses purchase. And Brian let me have some American pondweed out of his pond for replanting at my place. George Glazner (I hope I spelled this correctly) had made up some fly's and his wife was so kind to pass one along to me. A lot of good things, and good people were at Highflyers place. I am glad I was able to make it. Oh! and Eric West continued his denial of no relation between we two West's
Thank you Brian for the get together. I had a great time with good people.
TGW you can be part of my West family and vice versa -- deal ?
Brian let me have some American pondweed out of his pond for replanting at my place.
Tracy good to meet you....and is this what Brian gave you?
Wow! How big is that pond/lake?
John I think Brian said it is 10 acres.
I was very impressed with his lake/pond. It was teaming with life.....lots of structure, vegetation, minnows and baby fish visible everywhere. All seven of the bass I caught were healthy and had great color. I see now I have a lot of work to do on my pond.
Brian let me have some American pondweed out of his pond for replanting at my place.

Hay Zep, it was a pleasure to meet you. You may not recall but u passed along some crawfish information to me a while back, and so I was glad to meet you. And Brian was kind enough to wade into the lake and gather up some Pondweed for me to bring home. Following his recommendations, I will wash the plants today and place them in my pond.
I have got to get down to Texas. I need to see the land where a gracious host wades out to retrieve pondweed for a friend, and the friend actually intends to introduce it into his own pond....on purpose no less! Couple that with the notion that the bluegills will spawn 19 times a summer, and STILL there's not enough forage! Mind blowing I say.
Seriously though, looks like a great time was had by all. Well done!
+1 Wish I could have been there. Looks like a great time! If you guys have them, please post more pics, identifying attendees.
Sparkie, Hate to correct you but I believe BG spawn 21 times as a minimum per Texas summer with average hatchling length of 4 inches (everything's bigger in Texas
!)
Brian thanks for hosting, wish I could have made it. Beautiful lake you're doing great work.
Brian, many thanks to you and Heather for a fun day.
Does anyone have any pics of Al/FIH taking a midnight boat ride??
They don't call him "Dreamboat Annie" for nothing.
Brian, Thanks for hosting the get together this past weekend. Very nice place. I hope to have my setup half as nice in the next couple of yrs. It was also nice to meet everyone and what a great group of people.
Guess I should stuck around a little longer for the American pond weed hand outs.

As we've discussed, vampires, werewolves, and ne'er-do-wells are all that come out after dark.
Brian and Heather,
Thank you so much for hosting the East Texas Get Together. I could not have imagined how nice your place looks, the work that went into it and the hospitality you shown for all that attended. The food was great and you could not have asked for better weather.
I wanted to attend so I could finally put a face to a name and everyone was gracious. In my mind I try to picture folk when I am reading the forum and to see them in person made a difference. It was really great to be able to talk in person to Brian, Bob, Zep, Mike Otto and the rest of you.
Most of the group.
Mark, thanks again for the t shirts!!
How can a Brother get a t-shirt???
How can a Brother get a t-shirt???
Sunil what size and I will see if there are any left in that size.
Thanks Brian for everything!! Sonya and I had a blast. Your place is so beautiful and the water so clear. A very "active" lake. The wife and I caught 6 lmb the short time we fished. That big one that jumped off my wife hooked was between 4 1/2 or 5 pounds!! Wish we could have got a picture for you. Fantastic meeting everyone and talking ponds and fishing. Hope to do it again sometime!!!
Zep, adult large would be awesome.
If you have one, I'll PM my address.
Thanks, Mabro!!
Ok Sunil. I'm pretty sure I have an XL and some 2XL, but I will check tonight when I get home on the large.
Sunil, if Mark doesn't have one, I think I have an old Uriah Heep t shirt in large.
Sunil....sorry all I have is an XL and 3 2XL's left. If you want the XL I will be happy to send it to you and you can wash it in very hot water hoping for shrinkage....or eat more pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving and gain a few pounds.
Thanks for checking!!
Uriah Heap, huh? OK!!!
You're welcome...next time.
Sorry my bride & I had a last minute hiccup in our plans. Looks like you folks had an awesome time, wish I'd been there!
All,
We had a great day! The good Lord gave us great weather and we took advantage of it. I would like to personally thank Mark, Allen, and Chris for their direct support and contribution. I would further like to thanks Bob Lusk for his continues support and great help and candid talks. Bob, you truly care about helping pondmeisters. And then there is Mike Otto. Mike, thank you so much for stopping by. You are such a kind, caring person with such deep knowledge about dirt and how to move it correctly. You freely offer your knowledge as well to anyone who asks. The two of you are the bedrock of pondboss and we were honored to have you at our celebration. I personally heard four people talking about the things they learned from you both at our party.
To those who attended, thank you all for stopping by, we love sharing the place and talking about the choices we made.
To all the folks who brought stuff for the party, Thank you so much, it all looked, and tasted great.
I can't wait to do it again!
