Someone beat me to this one. But I've got a couple of questions about this one. I live about 10 miles from this lake.
The lake is 300acre water works lake, and it was drained 5 years ago, to the point of just a creek flowing though it, and about a 1/4 acre mud puddle. It was filled back up and stocked, with F1's, crappie, catfish, and threadfins. It was not stocked for growing monster bass from what I've heard.
There has also been a 14, and a 15 caught in the last year from that lake. Neither the 15, or the 17 were released, I don't know about the 14.
I think these fish must have been bucket stocked, probably from another local pond. How big would they have had to be to get to 17lbs in 5 years?
Looks like he tried to not break it's jaw.
Does it say what he did with the fish
after it was weighed on a certified scale?
It was weighed on a certified scale, 17lb 9.6oz. It did not say what they did with the fish, but there is also a pic being held up at the store where it was weighed. I'm pretty sure it was not released.
Dragging that big bass around getting it weighed and showing it off, if it is not dead it will be, even if it is released and swims away. Numerous big bass die for the TX lunker program even when fish have good handling methods.
