All I can think about today is what I could have been learning at the PB conference. Anybody else not attending feeling this way? Responsibility sucs rocks.

Same here.. Same feeling as the last few years.. SUCKS..

It would have been nice to attend.

Boss stepped on my vacation plans, even tho they were made months in advance.

Yea, it sure would be nice. It's just my busiest time of year here. I don't think that will ever change for me. The distance also makes it tough to even consider that it would be a quick weekend trip........

Unless it happens in the summer, I won't over be attending a PB conference. I am not going without my wife and with her being a school teacher, she cannot take off work like that.

Travis:

Can you fly out Thurs night, missing one day (Fri) of class, leave Sunday a.m. for home.

This makes the 5th time that I've packed for & put together his presentation & have been left behind to take care of the horses, dogs, & everything. I wholeheartedly agree that being the responsible one ...... but I guess someone has to step up to shoulder the load. smile

I'm touched by Travis not going w/o his wife ... maybe Mongo will read that one. LOL smile

Thanks for letting me put my two cents in.

Mrs. Mongo,

Mongo has given you a lot of praise. As always, his (your) presentation was great. Dave's always fun to have at these conferences.

Ken

P.s. The presentations my wife always attends are Otto's and Dave's. You gota get to one of these.

I truly thought I would be able to attend this year .... the last hurdle was to much ... Dave's lab puppy that he sprung on me in late July ... I'm still trying to housebreak .... no willing sitter frown It's alittle like Noah's Ark around here. smile

I would love to be there to meet you as Dave has spoken so highly of you & I have enjoyed your posts. I hope that you & your wife enjoy & safe travels back home.

Thank you,
Joni AKA Mrs. Mongo

Mrs. Mongo, you were missed (and credited). Congrats on the new pup. wink

If you want a housebreaking schedule, I can send you one when I get home. I have a book "How to housebreak your dog in 7 days" that works, and you could have done the schedule even while here at the conference. (part of it is teaching them crate training).

One schedule is for someone that is home all day, another one for someone that is away at work. (both work equally well)

Thank you smile
My Noah's Ark comment was not about flood water but number of animals to care for smile Dogs, hogs, horses, & cats :):)!!! It is a good life .... I'm blessed smile
"We" are crate training the pup as I work full-time.
Mongo & I differ in our "training" styles ... I want a well balanced (disciplined) & he wants a DUCK DOG so it would not have been pleasant for me to wrangle her away from home at this point but she & I will get there & I believe she will be a great duck dog smile
I would greatly welcome any & all suggestions & training tips so when you get home & rested please send me the schedule smile

Have A Great Time! smile Safe travels back home smile

I'm glad a good time was had by all! smile Safe travels back home to your family.

Once the pup learns manners to go along w/her duck skills life will be easier or is it Mongo needs to learn ....LOL smile

Dave would love to hunt w/you (here's hoping for a small break before the next outing that I have to get Mongo ready for smile !)

Before I picked up my last pup, the breeder sent me this book. It is a great read, and lends a lot of insight into puppy development from the "puppy pile" to being a well mannered member of the family. I really think all breeders should do that with new owners that haven't read it.

The book on housebreaking is:

What schedule would you like? (working/non-working?) I can type it out and e-mail it to you.

Thank you so very much! I will check these books out. I love learning how to be better to ensure a better quality of life for my animals. I appreciate your advice smile

Definitely the working schedule as I work fulltime outside the home & with all the other chores/care I do for the other animals that would be the most helpful. But I hate to make you go to all that extra work of typing the schedule when you are very busy & just returned home. You don't have to trouble yourself; I appreciate the thought.

Thank you, for taking the time to reach out .... greatly helped w/overwhelmed & left behind blues smile

I'm glad everyone had a great time & had safe travels back home. Mongo arrived home & promptly went to sleep .... it's tuff being Mongo wink LOL Just glad to have the big guy home safely!

Have a great day.
