I don't come across these things very often, but did last week while doing some filming on an east Texas ranch. Check out the video.

Bob that sends a chill up the back of my spine!

Mr. Cottonmouth is the main reason I bought some really high mud boots at Bass Pro...with the boots on I feel much better walking along the shoreline casting as it's getting dark.

That thing would have been harmed by a 12 gauge if it was at my place. Great video!

Yeah we have WM's here in Arkansas too. They are quite brave and will come at you if they feel harmed in any way. Dang things are quick too!! Want a good way to attract snakes? Pull your 14 foot flat bottom up on shore with about 2 feet of it still in the water for a couple of days and when you go to move you better be ready!!! I had 3 WM's this year and 2 copper head doing that! Leaving anything laying down flat for any number of days in the country you better be ready for a surprise when you go to lift it! smile

As much I complain about our winters here in MN, they do have some benefit. Keeping those type of animals away.

I have to admit that is one cool looking snake...from a distance of course wink

BGK - I've always heard about rattle snakes here in MN and WI but have never had anybody show pics of one or heard of any one getting bit. Not to say they aren't here. I just have never seen any pictures. Do you know someone here in MN that has actually seen one?

Todd would love this thread.

Where is he anyway?

Video was pretty cool!

.

I have had some luck making snake traps out of 4 inch PVC pipe and hardware cloth funnel ends. They are kind of like a Minnow trap only enclosed like a Hollow log. State of Florida it is illegal to drown Snakes because it is considered inhumane. Too bad because it is so easy and safe to just let the Trap fall into the water.

Bait is anything from a Tree Frog I catch on the side of my house to Live Feeder Mice. I am lucky in the fact there is a Out of work guy that went into Bait raising for a living. Most pet stores own deal with Frozen Mice as a food source. so live mice can be hard to find. I found this guy on Crag's list.
