I know it's hard without a picture of the areas we're discussing, but it's so overgrown now pictures probably wouldn't be worth a flip anyhow...

anyhow, the question is would it be better to do one large pond (3/4 acre) or 2 small ponds.

right now the single pond we have is both fed from underground springs and a large above ground spring, by doing 2 ponds I could use the existing pond for regular fish, and the first pond in the line for trout only. I was just wondering if from a management standpoint would it be better to do 2 small ponds or one "large" pond?

Just wondering, it'll be a few years before it's possible anyhow.

I would do one large. Nothing better than looking out at your large pond and thinking it's all mine!! I guess it depends on your goals of course. But if it were me I would go large! That's just my 2 cents. I have a 3/4 to 1 acre pond now and wish it was bigger! So I know you will get both of those made and go.... dang I wish these were bigger smile

At least that's been my feelings anyway.
In your situation, I'd probably go with one pond aimed at cold water fish(trout) and then the other pond aimed at the warm water fish you planned, such as the YP and CC.
