Mike, I have built dozens of fishing rods – spin casting – bait casting – fly rods … and enjoyed the satisfaction of crafting a custom fishing rod that one could be proud - at an affordable price.

Being a CHILD of the GREAT DEPRESSON left a mark on me – I’m from the old school of “make it last – use it up –make it do”.

When I got serious about fly fishing, the quality up-scale (I hate that word) fly rods were in the $600 buck range and IMO there is no fly rod in the world worth that much money, so I built my Sage fly rods for a third of retail price.

I got out of the rod building business when Temple Fork Outfitters came along and offered high quality fishing rods at an affordable price – with a lifetime – no fault guarantee.

No more rod building for me!

Follow DD's advice about Texas Fishing Forum for rod builders.
