They are, but the problem is fitting bark collars to each and every one of them.

We do raise them. They are great watch dogs. No snakes, fleas or ticks around our house. Dave is right, those guys can make some noise. We put ours up every night with the chickens. The coons will stay full of guineas if you leave them out at night around here. They are fun to watch though. Anyway hope everyone has a good and safe holiday season.

Yotes, hawks, and mink ate all of ours. They were doing OK until they nested.

Yes, they are quite noisy, but you can get used to it. When I would take a nap in the afternoon, would typically hear them screaming and still fell asleep. The worst thing about them typically is their stupidity. Typical barnyard birds will move out of the way quickly when vehicle is coming, but they'll just stand in the way. I've seen them get hit on highway before. If hit right, its actually quite pretty seeing on impact, like a cannon blasting out feathers.

The neighbor had them a few years ago and even at 300 yds away they were louder than deer walking on dry leaves in the woods.

He said that if he knew how loud they'd be he would have never gotten them for his kid's 4H project. He got rid of them without any coaxing from me as soon as the project was over.

Kids are as loud as guineas, glad he's more attached to them
