Got up at 4:00AM drove over to Overton Fisheries and met Todd. Got 30 lbs of Tilapia and got home and just put them in the pond. It started raining so pictures were not good. Thanks Todd. Anyone else stocked Tilapia yet?

Interesting Larry, I didn't know you had plans to stock Tilapia.

Yeah Jeff, We had some several years ago at Zephyr pond. The pond was the cleanest we ever had. We had trouble getting them the next year and the pond looked terrible. So we are excited about having tilapia for several reasons.

Did you drink some beers w/ Overton (or TechnoViking), or was it just too early?
Posted By: heybud Re: Tilapia Stocking Day - 04/16/10 10:08 PM
We got there real early. But then again, beer isn't just for lunch anymore. You can have it for breakfast too.

Your answer, heybud, is as good as "I have no recollection of that, Senator."

Stocked my Tilapia on Tuesday. A few of them may be a nice snack for my LMB/HSB as they were under 5". I put 10#'s in my .75 acre pond.

P.S. It was a 3 beer task!

Is Overtons open on Saturdays for fish sales now? I was going to get my tilapia fix last weekend and got their recorder so I didn't chance the trip. I've been Jonesing all week now.

"I am heading down there tomorrow to pick up a bunch of fish."

Are you going to take pictures or just tell us about the experience?
Posted By: heybud Re: Tilapia Stocking Day - 04/17/10 01:07 AM
I called and made an appointment. Sometimes Todd has to deliver a fish order and can't be around.

If I can find a camera I will take some pictures. Mine is in Arkansas.

I think your phone has a camera in it.

Clint, aka TechnoViking, could have had a few beers with you!

Dang Rex... You gonna be a busy man! Where are you going to be delivering in VA?
Posted By: esshup Re: Tilapia Stocking Day - 04/18/10 02:01 PM
No problem Rex. Sent you a PM.
Posted By: tejasrojas Re: Tilapia Stocking Day - 04/18/10 04:17 PM
I got my fix yesterday and it appeared lots of other folks got theirs as well. Todd was pretty busy.
I put ~5 lbs in the .4 acre mutt pond and five tilapia each in the .25 acre redear and CNBG ponds. CNBG pond for algae control. The redear pond for duckweed. We'll see how it works out.

Had a silence of the gams moment when I released a half dozen 6" HSB in the CNBG pond. The HSB swam up the inlet where thousands of gams seek refuge and went right to work. It was worth the price of admission.

Can you tell if the Tilapia have spawned in the CNBG pond?

Do you raise CNBG to transfer or sale?
