There were some small flat white worms inside fish guts after cleaning? What are they? The fish were channel cats and blue gill, are they tapeworms - any suggestions? Is this normal and is it ok to eat the meat?

Were they actually in the guts, or were they in the flesh?

In the guts. I've done some research, it appears normal. Disgusting but normal, some documents even say that a certain % of fish with different types of worms are actually a good indicator of a healthy ecosystem in the pond.
