Although I speak spanish fairly well I do not know the word they use for large mouth bass. I was trying to explain what kind of fish I had in my pond to some of the Mexican guys that do odd jobs around my property and was at a loss. I know that bagre=catfish, and mojarra=generic panfish of almost any kind(or so it seems to me,apparently misused in the same way we use "perch" in english). I found perca and pez sol de orejas azules as bluegill translations. After googling for LMB translations I came up with el huro, and la lobina negra. But knowing spanish there is quite likely a mexican name for LMB not listed in most dictionaries. It seems there has to be a name given the mexican LMB fishing tourism that is so well known.

When I was in Spain many years back, LMB were referred to as black bass, so maybe something w/ Negre in it?

I just asked the cashier from B.P.S., she called her cousin in Mexico, who told her that they call them ROBALLO. I sure hope I'm right about this, as I wouldn't want to ever give wrong advice to anyone.

I'm pretty sure you just need to put an "El" in front of the english version of the word, and add an "O" to the end:

El Largemoutho Basso or El Blacko Basso

I've also discovered that the louder you say something in english to someone of a foreign tongue, the more likely they are to understand it.

Let me know if you need anything else translated. ;\)
